Who created the EDS Symptom Relief Academy?
EDS Nutrition was founded by a registered dietitian with hEDS.
After discovering how helpful nutrition was for managing her own digestive issues, fatigue, and chronic pain, she was inspired to help others do the same.
EDS Nutrition has supported patients with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome since 2022. The mission has always remained the same: help fellow EDS patients reduce common symptoms like digestive issues, fatigue, and pain without restrictive diets or one-size-fits all approaches.
After years of supporting patients one-on-one, the EDS Symptom Relief Academy was created to bring together answers to the most common questions, highlight the most effective symptom management strategies, and share the most life-changing tips. It has become one of the most comprehensive resources available on the topic of EDS and nutrition.

From Constant Bloating to Eating Without Fear:
An EDS Symptom Relief Academy Case Study
- Client: Sarah (name changed for confidentiality)
- Diagnoses: hEDS, POTS
- Main symptoms: Daily abdominal bloating that worsens throughout the day, frequent stomachaches
Before joining the EDS Symptom Relief Academy...
Sarah had already tried eliminating several foods from her diet, with no improvements to show for it. Her doctor told her that the next step would be an even more restrictive diet…the low FODMAP diet. This didn’t fit into her busy schedule as a Physical Therapy student. But every day, her belly would bloat as each mealtime passed. So every chance she had, she tried to connect her symptoms with the dozens of foods she was eating. The stress of being told to follow a restrictive diet and believing that everything she was eating could be hurting her started to become unbearable
Why she chose EDS Nutrition
She knew that another diet handout in a doctor’s office wasn’t even close to what she needed. She chose the EDS Symptom Relief Academy because she wanted support that took her EDS, POTS, energy limitations, and overall complex health history into account
Sarah's goals in the EDS symptom relief academy:
- Identifying potential triggers for her bloating and putting them to the test
- Determining patterns in the timing and severity of her symptoms so that she could get ahead of them next time
- Adapting suggestions around flare and low energy days
The result?
- After identifying her two bloating triggers (one of which was not even food-related!) her bloating reduced from daily to occasional
- She can sit through class or enjoy dinner out with friends without feeling miserable
- She knows what doesn’t trigger her symptoms, so she can shop, cook, and eat with less stress than ever
What does Sarah have to say?
“I like how I could tailor everything to me. This made it really easy because it’s clear what will be helpful for me and my specific health scenario. I was expecting to have to follow strict meal plans…but this approach is actually way more helpful because now I know what I can add into my everyday life. The Ultimate Resource Guide was super helpful, too. Plus, the anti-inflammatory section in the curriculum was fun to watch because it was a totally new concept for me.”
Frequently Asked Questions
No…unfortunately, health insurance does not cover a program like this. The EDS Symptom Relief Academy covers 20 hours of content, which would be the equivalent of 20 sessions with a dietitian! This program is designed to be manageably completed in 3 months. You can work at a pace that’s comfortable for you, whether that’s faster or slower than average. The goal is to finish curriculum within six months so you can start feeling better sooner rather than later.
EDS Nutrition does not believe in one-size-fits-all diets, regimens, or protocols for EDS patients because each patient has unique preferences, tolerances, and symptom drivers. We use an “additive” approach, meaning we encourage adding things that can be beneficial for symptom management. This approach ensures that anyone, with any dietary preferences or needs, will find this program to be extremely applicable.
Trust us…we get it! EDS patients are all pretty unique. The EDS Symptom Relief Academy’s content was crowd sourced by dozens of EDS patients to ensure that the curriculum encompasses the needs of most patients. While it’s possible that there will be some gaps relative to your health needs, it’s highly likely that nearly all EDS patients will find the program to be helpful in a variety of domains.
No! This program helps address symptoms, not EDS directly. Therefore, this program is perfectly suitable who experience symptoms that seem to align with EDS symptoms, even if there is no proper diagnosis.
